Naga Head Hunters Entertainment
is a very small organization founded in 2005 by
Liyo Kikon and Ponenwati Longchar.

With no prior professional training or for that matter even professional guidance, we made our first attempt at film making with 'The Reborn' in 2005. All the costumes in the movie were created and made using Paper Mache by Ponen, and the movie was shot using basic handycam & home equipments. Due to some unavoidable circumstances, we never finished the project unfortunately, but we did release the preview with the resources left from the project and much to our surprise, we received a good amount of positive review and encouragement. This led us to the next project called F.A.K.E. (First Assault Kontrol and Extraction unit).

After the release of F.A.K.E, Ponen moved to England for further studies, we were indeed quite lost without our front man. With his departure, the organization had a little in hand, as he was always the one with great ideas & cool creative skills.

After a long period of stagnation, we decided to nourish the dream and in Jan 2009 a new team was assembled with a new commitment. The aim to provide local entertainment is always a priority, we have re-organized ourselves and lined some more projects to hold the continuity in our works and production. We have made a short film called ‘Liquidators’ for promotional purpose and it is made available for everyone with no charges applicable whatsoever.

Our logo which may seem violent at a glance is not what it seems to be. A lot of people commented on the fact that it’s violent, but we’d like to make it clear, once and for all that it is humorous in itself. The bloody head on a stick is just our way of rebelling against society’s way of trying to make everything “politically correct”

The name ‘Naga Head Hunters Entertainment’ originally started off as simply ‘Head Hunters’, but to our dismay ‘Head Hunters’ was already registered to someone else. To cut the bullshit short and also the process of claiming the name was a long procedure which might take us a lifetime, we added ‘Naga’, which worked. Amazingly it gives us authenticity and a distinguished identity. And as far as the meaning behind the name goes, we are all aware of our origins and roots and we are all so proud of the fact that just a couple of decades ago, our ancestors were head hunters, brave head hunters which has made the biggest impact on our identity in this world. We are aware that its not applicable anymore, we won’t find a single person practicing his head hunting skills in Nagaland, but whether we accept it or not, we are still marked and imprinted with it.

As for the future projects, we have BIG plans! We got animations, short-films, music videos and full feature films lined up, if everything works according to our plan.

Most importantly, we will need your support and encouragement to continue with this journey, so please do feel free to drop by and offer your valuable suggestions and don’t forget to keep checking the site for updates.

May the force be with you

Liyo Kikon

Forte: Film Directing & Editing, Web Designing

Born on the 24th of February 1985 in Kohima, Liyo studied in Mezhur Higher Secondary School till his 10th std (2001). At 13, he made his first web site offering thousands of cheat codes for games. All went smooth for some time with daily responses from gamers worldwide until he started to neglect his studies much to his dismay; eventually he was forced to abandon the site. He struggled with his schooling for a few years and finally cleared his class 12 in 2006. He moved to Delhi taking up a programming course from NIIT as a cover and concentrated more on what he loved doing- learning different skills through tutorials from the Internet, mainly focusing on video editing and special FX.

It was around 2005 when he and Ponen came up with the idea of making a star wars film and since Ponen was already really good in moulding using paper mache, they shot the film using a handycam, along with some other friends. Along the way, they made a short clip called "dancing stormtrooper" where Ponen wore the first tryout of the half-finished costume, this video in particular was much appreciated by everyone and also featured in the XI issue in Skoar magazine, India. Later on, they made another short film "F.A.K.E" which was also well received, followed by Liquidators, which was widely inspired by Jason Bourne movies and has brought a lot of positive feedback even though the film was yet again shot using just two handycams and poor equipments.

Summary:

In short, none of us really understood the idea of socially acceptable "Educational Qualification", we in no way are activist or anti-education. But we do strongly believe in doing what we love to do, instead of going through the long process of learning something we are not interested in and disappoint ourselves and others with failure, we have chosen a path less complicated or maybe more complicated. To what is in store for us, let us find out.
